What is PADI and what does this stand for?
PADI stands for Professional Association of Diving Instructors and is the world’s largest diver training agency. PADI take pleasure in the most diverse professional membership in the entire dive community. They also have the most culturally and ethnically distinct group of diving professionals. It is estimated that PADI have more than 100,000 PADI Instructors, Assistant Instructors and Divemasters offering diving services in more than 180 countries and territories. What do I have to do in the IDC?
You will be involved in teaching presentations shared between class activities, pool skills training assessments and open water training. You will receive staff presentations conducted by a PADI Course Director or IDC Staff Instructors. Is extra time available for preparation and study for IDC?
YES – The IDC Prep course gives you the time to prepare held 2 days prior to the start of each IDC. Your Course Director will allow extra time during the IDC for study workshops and we are also available 24 hours during the IDC should you need to polish in any areas you feel you are weak. ...more about IDC Prep



What qualifications do I need to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor?
Prerequisites are PADI Assistant Instructor certification, certified diver for at least six months, 60 logged dives (with experience in night, deep, and navigation), proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months. You must have a minimum of 100 logged dives to become a PADI Instructor (though you can begin training as one with 60 logged dives). ...more about PADI OWSI

Where can I stay during my IDC in Phuket, Thailand?

How do I get to Pro-Tech Dive College in Phuket?
Pro-Tech is very conveniently located in the heart of Karon Beach area in Phuket. The Phuket International Airport is only a 40 minute drive and we will arrange a transfer for your arrival. Connecting flights are available daily from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok.



Do I require a visa to visit Phuket for my IDC?
You will receive a 30 day visa on arrival and you can take a visa run after each 30 days to a border to obtain an additional 30 days stay. Visa runs are common in Thailand and will cost around 1,500 THB and take a full day. You can also obtain extended tourist visas from Thai Embassies outside of Thailand for 60 days which can be extended here in Phuket from 15-30 additional days. When can I start my Divemaster Course?
Divemaster programs are generally started at the beginning and the middle of each month but we do consider courses on an individual basis and we can generally start at a time to suit the candidate.



How long will it take to become a Professional Divemaster?
You can take a basic Divemaster Course from as little as three weeks but in order to become an elite professional we recommend at least 6 weeks of training with a combination of specialties to grow your diving repertoire. The more time you can commit to the more experience you will gain at this level and the more opportunities will come your way when looking to work as a diving professional. What equipment will I require for my IDC?
There are items that you will want, such as the latest computer gadgets, there will be items that you will need, as you won’t get very far without a mask, snorkel and fins and then there are items that are essential as outlined by PADI that all professionals need to own during training. Are there any special materials required for my IDC?
